China currently has 340 warships in its fleet while the U.S. has less than 300. They are slated to have 400 in the next few years, and the Navy secretary in the U.S. says that Washington should order more ships built in response to their growth.
Satellite Images from Nov. 2021 show mockups of U.S. ships in China’s northwestern desert apparently being used for target practice. This is a common practice, but does cause alarm when you see evidence of an intensifying arms race.

AI Created Content Cannot be Copywritten - A Win for Creators
The U.S. Copyright office said images in a graphic novel created with AI system, Midjourney, should not have been granted copyright.
The author is entitled to the parts of the book he wrote and arranged, but a new copyright will exclude images in the book created with Midjourney.
This decision is one of the first among U.S. courts and agencies regarding AI generated content. So far they are are stating that content that is not human authorship cannot be copyrighted.
This comes amid controversy from online creators who have spoken out about how these AI are trained. Most of them are fed the intellectual property of real content creators to then spit out and regurgitate new content.
The original creators have neither opted in nor been compensated for the use of their content, and therein lies the rub with AI created content so far.
Murdaugh Trial Update
Alex Murdaugh takes the stand in the wake of Netflix’s release of their documentary.
The Defense rested around 3:15PM and after a short break, the Prosecution brought the heat. If you’ve never heard two lawyers on opposite sides of the box go at it, well, it’s boring.
Words are picked apart from both sides.
On cross examination, the State focused heavily on Murdaugh’s financial crimes which his legal team wanted to prevent with a motion yesterday which was denied.
The Defense asked at closing today if they could call 2 pathology witnesses in the morning in town just for the trial, so they could leave. The Judge denied that request as it would interrupt the cross.
It’s getting messy, folks. We don’t know if he was the trigger man or not, but his financial situation surely presented a motive.
The Good News
Senior Citizen Walked to Work Until She Found $15K at a Gas Station
65-year-old Diane Gordon walks 2.7 miles to and from work at a deli counter in Michigan, or at least she did until her luck changed.
On a stop one day at a gas station, Diane noticed a plastic bag that appeared to have a lot of money inside, $15,000 to be exact.
She could have gone to the nearest car lot and drove away with a new car, but she called the police instead.
Later that day, the police phones to say they’d tracked down the owners of the money from information on the greeting cards inside the bag with the money. It turns out, the money were contributions from wedding guests and the newlyweds were overwhelmed by Diane’s integrity.
The wife of the police officer who responded set up a GoFundMe hoping to raise enough to get Diane a new car.
After raising just over $82,000, Diane drove her new Jeep Compass off the lot on Feb. 8th.
