The train may have been hauling mostly coal, but hazmat crews have been on the scene. This story is still developing.
One report said this is the 4th derailment in Gothenburg in a year.
This is what happens when we lock down and spend money on everything except infrastructure.
Jan. 6 Footage Released - Sort Of
Last month, Speaker Kevin McCarthy stated that the public needed to see the Jan. 6 footage, more than 14,000 hours, and that he planned to release it but wanted to be “very thoughtful about it”.
Apparently his idea of being thoughtful about it was to give Tucker Carlson access to the footage and allow him to curate what we get to see.
We the People would have been better served had he released the footage on Reddit and let the autists use their superpowers on it.
The footage doesn’t belong to Republicans or Conservatives. It should be released to the people and let us choose for ourselves what we’re seeing. Tucker can see it too.
That’s thoughtful!
Food in America Making Us Sick
“Let food be thy medicine, and let medicine be thy food.”
From food coloring to additives and preservatives, American food contains ingredients that are banned in other countries, some as known carcinogens.
Here’s a quick list of just some of those banned foods.
This is the kind of information that will run you into a label reader at the supermarket.
In Europe, bread is sacred. They are famous for the variety and quality of their bread. Their bread lacks one ingredient prevalent in bread found in the U.S.: Potassium bromate.
Potassium bromate is used to strengthen dough by some food makers in the U.S. There is evidence that it may initiate or promote the development of tumors.
Did You Know Wild Pigs Are a Threat in U.S.?
We had no idea!
There have been wild pigs for decades threatening the flora and fauna in areas where their populations soar.
Pigs are not native to North America. The first record we have of pigs is when the Spanish explorer, Hernando De Soto’s entourage landed in Florida in 1539 with 13 swine. Bad number!
The government estimates that wild pigs cause $1.5 billion in damages each year with a population of 6 million.
Now, there is a new threat from a new cross-bred super pig from Canada that is “incredibly intelligent” and “highly elusive”.
These pigs can reach 3 feet tall and 5 feet long making them a formidable force, not to mention they can carry disease that and spread to humans like influenza. A new pandemic anyone?
We think it’s hog killin’ time! Bacon for all!
Uptick of Guns at Airports
A man on his way to Houston from New Orleans decided he needed to take along his rifle and 163 rounds of ammo. The problem is they TSA kind of frowns on that sort of thing.
2022 was a record year for guns at airports across the nation. The TSA intercepted 6,542 guns, 88% of which were loaded.
They say the way things are shaping up, 2023 may well beat it.
3rd Person Cured of HIV Celebrates a Decade Virus-Free
A man only known as “the Duesseldorf patient” was diagnosed with HIV in 2008. 3 years later, he was also diagnosed with myeloid leukemia, a life-threatening blood cancer.
In 2013, he received stem cells from a female donor who had a rare mutation to her CCR5 gene which prevents HIV from entering cells.
The patient has been off of anti-viral meds since 2018 and recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of his life-saving bone marrow transplant.
He had consistently shown no trace of HIV in tests.
Murdaugh Trial Update
Alex Murdaugh’s surviving son, Buster Murdaugh, is slated to testify today for the defense.
The State presented very compelling evidence, mostly in the form of cell phone data pointing to the senior Murdaugh and placing him at the scene before he was supposed to be there.
This case has rocked the South Carolina Low Country and caused a ripple effect. Not since Casey Anthony have we followed such an interesting trial.
FUN FACT: Cell phone evidence was first used during the trial to convict the killers of Michael Jordan’s father, James Jordan, in 1993.
Aftershocks Rock the Turkish/Syrian Border
Two more earthquakes rocked the border between Turkey and Syria on Monday sparking panic and killing 6 people.
This follows the devastating quakes from Feb. 6th that rocked the region kills 47,000 people and leaving more than 1 million homeless.

4-Day Work Week Trial a Breakthrough
Of course! Everyone wants to work less! This is not a breakthrough.
I digress.
A conglomerate of universities and non-profit organizations in the U.K. conducted the largest trial of a 4-day work week in the world.
The trial resulted in significant drops in stress and illness among staff. There was also a 71% reported decrease in burnout.
The trial ran for 6 months and was a 20% reduction in hours for all employees with no change in wages.
56 out of 61 companies are continuing with the 4 days work week while 18 have made it a permanent change.
Here’s hoping the U.S. will catch on soon!
